When I go to get my oil changed, why do they always tell me that I need a cabin air filter even when I know I just had it replaced? Answer: This is the easiest, most profitable, no tools required upsell any lube rack type shop could perform.
The cabin air filter lives near your evaporator usually behind your glove box and filters out dust and debris from reaching the inside of the cabin (where the passengers sit). It is recommended to change this once a year, or if you are driving or living in severe conditions, as needed.
This is one repair that you can do yourself, with no tools, an on average you will save at LEAST $40 (the part is usually around $20 and shops usually charge $60+).
