🐱‍🏍 Instructor

Girlie Garage is building a bench of instructors who can step in to teach Girlie Garage workshops as opportunities come up — think a few times a month, or even just occasionally, depending on your availability and our schedule. This is a great fit for someone who loves teaching and cares about our mission, but isn't looking for a regular weekly commitment.

You'll be fully trained on our workshop content and materials ahead of time, so you can walk in and teach with confidence.

What You’ll Do

Lead Girlie Garage workshops (teen courses, adult automotive basics, seasonal workshops, youth STEAM sessions, and more) at libraries, schools, community events, and partner venues
Deliver content in the Girlie Garage voice: welcoming, encouraging, and jargon-free for beginners
Set up and break down workshop materials and supplies on the day
Communicate your availability so we can schedule you when workshops come up

Who You Are

Comfortable teaching groups of all ages and experience levels, from total beginners to teens to adults
Personable, patient, and encouraging — especially with people who are nervous or new to cars
Automotive interest preferred (professional experience, coursework, or strong hands-on familiarity, excited about vehicles/machines in general)
Reliable when you say yes to a date — flexible scheduling goes both ways
Based in or near San Diego, with reliable transportation to workshop locations
Excited to learn new things about automotive that will help you personally save money
Looking forward to helping your community grow and be better together

Compensation

Paid per workshop taught (rate discussed based on workshop type and length)
No minimum hours required — this is a flexible, as-needed role
Hours are occasional. The master schedule will be shared with you and you can choose what fits your schedule
